About Us

Our History

The Center for Orthotic & Prosthetic Care (COPC) has twenty-six (26) locations in Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, New York, and Pennsylvania. COPC not only provides patient care to hospitals and physicians groups, but also specializes in assisting hospitals manage their orthotic and prosthetic (O & P) departments.

The Center for Orthotic & Prosthetic Care began in 1997 when Don Dixon, a retired ABC-certified orthotist and prosthetist (CPO) with 28 years experience, was asked if he could assist Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Ky., with financial and operational issues within its O & P Department.

Mr. Dixon assembled a team of professionals; Mike Mattingly, CPO, Keith Senn, and Tim Nutgrass, BOCP to analyze the issues & to develop and implement a strategic business plan.

Today the Kosair Children’s O & P Facility is known as Center for Orthotic and Prosthetic Care, a privately owned venture company.

In just over 15 years time, COPC has expanded its services to include: Norton Medical Pavilion, Suburban East, & Kosair Charities Center in Louisville, KY; Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort, KY; Duke University Medical Center, & Duke University Medical Center North in Durham, NC.; and five (5) centers in North Carolina, New Albany, Indiana and locations in Binghamton, NY, Cooperstown, NY, Elmira, NY, Syracuse, NY and Geneva, NY.

COPC has recently expanded into Pennsylvania, with facilities in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Shamokin Dam, Bloomsburg and Williamsport.

Our Mission is to develop Orthotic and Prosthetic centers that provide the highest level of patient care possible. We strive to ensure our programs are beneficial to the patients, employees, hospitals and are an asset to the surrounding communities within the Orthotic & Prosthetic industry.
