O & P Residency Program

Center for Orthotic and Prosthetic Care (COPC) Resident-See Program is a mentor-based program that gives Residents the unique opportunity to learn from our experienced Practitioners with exposure to a wide range of devices, techniques and advanced technologies.

Center for Orthotic and Prosthetic Care (COPC) hires the best graduate students from accredited Orthotic/Prosthetic Masters programs. Our resident-see program is accredited by the National Committee on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education.

Our orthotic/prosthetic residents have received extensive education, both theoretical and applied, through graduate training. With an increased emphasis on evidence-based patient care, residents are helping to design orthoses/prostheses that are based on scientific, rather than anecdotal, evidence and always patient-center focused.

Following residency, our residents become Board Certified through the American Board for Certification (ABC) in Orthotics, Prosthetics. Our certified practitioners are bound by the ABC Cannon of Ethics, which promotes patient-centered care.

Our residents have the ability to rotate through various clinical settings, learning from orthotists and prosthetists considered experts in their specific scope of practice. It is a long-term commitment, and has the potential to turn into a staff position for the right candidate as we continue to grow, creating leaders for the future.

We view our Resident-See Program as a win-win situation. You, the resident, have the ability to observe, learn, and participate in the finest clinical settings at this country’s most prestigious teaching hospital(s). We at COPC gain from your education, experiential background and energy. While being in a leading institution, you will be exposed to a variety of musculoskeletal disorders, various presentations of neuromuscular disease, and scoliosis.

We have high volume, patient care facilities, so lack of exposure is never an issue. With multiple facilities, you will be exposed to a variety of clinical situations. We have facilities located within teaching hospitals, and others in a more typical private practice setting.

We view your resident-see as an extension of your formal education. We are training for the future; both your career as a professional, but most important, your partnership with COPC. We believe in the value of the COPC experience and are willing to share it.

Whether to be near family or to practice a particular specialty, COPC can offer opportunities other programs can’t including the following:
